Program Offered
The Vita Nova Mentoring Program provides young adults, ages 18-25, with a chance to learn from the life experiences of a caring adult. Adult mentors develop a relationship with their assigned mentee, with the intention of building and maintaining that relationship for years to come. The typical mentor has many years of life and work experience to be shared with our young adult community. Our mentors listen, laugh, advise, and learn. It’s a WIN-WIN for everybody!
Population Served
Vita Nova residents are male and female young adults aged 18-25.
Mentor Responsibilities
Mentors are (same sex) matched to one young adult for a period of one year. During this time, mentors meet with their mentee at least once a week for a minimum of one hour, face to face. Time and day of week will be determined by the availability of both, the mentor, and the mentee. Schedules may fluctuate based on the needs of each.
Typical activities may include; sharing a meal, a day at the beach, going to a movie, cooking a meal together, or just some good conversation time. Phone contact and emails between face to face visits are encouraged.
Note: All mentors subject to FBI background check and Fingerprint screening (done at Vita Nova with no cost to mentor).
Time Commitment
Mentors and mentees make a commitment of 2 hours per week, one hour face to face, and one additional hour via telephone, email, etc., for an overall period of one full year.
