Program Offered: Mentoring at the Bridges at Highland offers a fun, safe, and structured opportunity for one-on- one mentoring for children enrolled at Highland Elementary School and/ or the Afterschool Programs at Highland.
Population Served: Mentoring at the Bridges Program is a school-based service available to 2nd thru 5th graders at Highland Elementary School and/ or the afterschool programs at Highland.
Mentor Responsibilities: Volunteer-Mentors will spend one-on-one time with their mentee doing homework, reading and participating in fun activities such as games, arts & crafts and sports.
Mentors will share life experiences while providing support, guidance and positive role modeling behavior. Volunteer- Mentors are matched with a child in a one-on-one relationship. The volunteer- Mentors will meet at least once a week for an hour but our welcomed to come more.
Mentoring is a wonderful opportunity to help a child reach their potential!
Requirements: Adults must complete an application, background screening, interview and orientation training prior to being matched with a youth. Mentees and Mentors are required to attend fun trainings throughout the duration of the match.
Mentoring is a supervised onsite program that happens between 2:00pm to 7:30pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday 9:00am to 1pm. Matches have many opportunities to participate in fun field trips together with the mentoring program.
Time Commitment: Volunteer –Mentors are encouraged to have weekly contact with their mentee and commit to one year.
