Programs Offered
Junior Achievement offers several programs that provide students from kindergarten to high school levels practical, engaging, and informative lessons that educate them about business and economics, and help prepare them for professional business careers. Among their unique programs are “Tools for Success”, a mentoring program for at-risk students providing skills in the construction industry in partnership with local contractors; Exchange City- an entire 'mini' community managed and operated by students in an experiential setting, and JA also works with several after school programs throughout Palm Beach County. Please call Junior Achievement to learn more about the programs they offer.
Population Served
Over 40,000 young people in Kindergarten through 12th grade, in schools in Palm Beach, Martin, and Hendry Counties.
Mentoring Responsibilities
Mentors must be at least 18 years of age. Junior Achievement provides the training and the curriculum for the classroom programs. Classroom volunteers conduct hands-on fun activities regarding free-enterprise and business. Classroom and Exchange City volunteers receive training and are assigned to the classroom or the Exchange City center to share their professional experiences and skills. All classroom and center visits are supervised by school or Junior Achievement staff.
Time Commitment
Visit a classroom one day per week for 45 to 60 minutes. The number of visits varies from 6-15 depending upon grade level.
