Benefits of Becoming a Mentor

According to the website Mentoring.org, mentors often benefit when they realize they're making a difference and having a positive impact on their mentee's life.  And mentors are amazed to find themselves learning and growing along side their mentees.

For example, being a mentor provides people the opportunity to:

  • Have fun
  • Achieve personal growth
  • Improve their self-esteem and feel they are making a difference
  • Gain a better understanding of other cultures and develop a greater appreciation for diversity
  • Feel more productive and have a better attitude at work
  • Enhance their relationships with their own children

Thinking about mentoring?
Consider these qualities of successful mentors:

  • Commitment to be involved with another person for an extended period of time – six months to a year
  • Respect for individuals and their abilities, as well as their right to make their own life choices
  • Ability to listen and accept different points of view
  • Ability to empathize with another person’s struggles
  • Ability to see solutions and opportunities, as well as barriers
  • Flexibility and openness

Making the best impact as a mentor begins with making the right connection. We assist you to locate the best opportunity to mentor based on your preferences, interests, location and time available. We assure that you will receive appropriate orientation, training, and support before you begin, and during your relationship with your protege.

Volunteer to become a Mentor.
